Volunteering with (Lot)us

We are looking for people who, just like us, are interested in improving the quality of life of those we serve. There are many ways in which you can support the work of Lotus in our community. Anyone on our team working directly with participants is required to undertake the Lotus Volunteer Training program, including counsellors, assertive outreach workers, and administration staff. The training program is delivered over four days and is designed to ensure we all work from a person centred and strengths’ based approach. It also begins the process of team building, a core strategy of creating a family-like working environment. This training program is delivered free of charge to potential volunteers of Lotus. You might however have skills that also support our work, but not at the coal face of our services. You are therefore not required to complete the volunteer training, however we do encourage it, and you are more than welcome to participate. We are grateful to those who have experience and skills in the following areas:MarketingSocial mediaWebsite managementCoordinating fundraising activities and other eventsParticipating in fundraising or eventsSourcing and writing grant applicationsAnd, we are always up for new ideas!
We gratefully accept your support through your time and commitment, and would love to hear from you if you are interested.

Why would you volunteer with us?

You will receive full training by a qualified trainer, be part of a supportive workplace, access to EAP service, uniform and the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals. We have fun! We are a family! We make a difference!
  • From our team
Lotus provides a supportive, loving and safe place for students, volunteers and participants alike. I volunteer with Lotus because I love what we do for our local community, giving back and supporting some of our most vulnerable community members. My time with lotus has given me a sense of purpose, confidence in my skills to return to work and a passion for helping others.

  • From our team
I choose to volunteer because I believe everyone should have access to counselling. We all struggle from time to time and mental health services like counselling can be ridiculously expensive and hard to find. Fee free/low fee counselling helps uplift the people in our community!!!

  • From our team
I volunteer my time and energy to Lotus support and counselling services to strengthen my cultural diversity skills and to achieve best professional practices. I want to see good people recognised and embraced within our community.
